Chouk Bwa Libète is a Haitian ensemble founded in 2012. They play mizik rasin (the roots of music) – combination of traditional elements of Haitian and African vodou and foreign influences such as reggae. Most of mizik rasin songs are performed in Creole and refer directly to the vodou culture by incorporating some elements of ceremonies or prayers to particular Loa (spirits of the most essential role in vodou ceremony). This album was recorded in the small village of Petite Rivière Bayonnais, Artibonite, an area of Haiti steeped in Vodou.
