Sain Zahoor (b. circa 1945) is one of the most famous and internationally recognized contemporary world music artists from Pakistan. Honored with the BBC World Music Award in 2006. His music is deeply rooted in sufi tradition of travelling mystics who recited poetry and played different instruments. Sain Zahoor specializes in playing iktar – the traditional folk instrument which artists adopted to its three-stringed version.
