Alfredo da Rocha Viana, Jr., which is known as Pixinguinha was a composer, arranger, flautist and saxophonist from Rio de Janeiro. Pixinguinhais one of the most important Brazilian composers of popular music specially whitin the genre choro. He mixed music of older choro composers with contemporary jazz-like harmonies, Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and sophisticated arrangements.
