Begum Akhtar was a well known Indian singer of Ghazal, Dadra, and Thumri genres of Hindustani classical music (7 October 1914 – 30 October 1974). She was from Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh. She started her career since childhood and her first public performance was when she was fifteen. She is known as Queen of Ghazal (Malika-E-Ghazal) which is the name of this album too.
