Esma Redžepova-Teodosievska (1943–2016) was a Macedonian singer and songwriter of Romani ethnicity. Also known as Queen of the Gypsies, Redžepova was one of the first singers to sing in Romani language on radio and television. Esma Redžepova has recorded and released more than 580 songs, mostly sung in Romani and Macedonian, but she has also recorded songs in Serbo-Croatian, Turkish, Hebrew, Greek and Hindi. Čaje Šukarije, her most famous songs meaning Little Girl, has become an anthem for all Roma all over the world.
