Ensemble Adilei, founded in 2012 in Tbilisi, performs traditional Georgian folk songs and chants. The name “Adilei” comes from a Gurian traveling song, which matches the character of our group very well. In addition to singing together, the members of Adilei also chant in various churches in Tbilisi. They mostly perform songs from Guria, a region that has one of the most complex types of Georgian folk song. They perform concerts in prisons and small bars alongside big halls, they sing their hearts out, but foremost, they serve the noble task of carrying the torch of Gurian (mostly, but not exclusively) folk song. There is the trademark Gurian yodeling, relentless improvising and complex harmonies in these chants.
