Album THISTLES is a musical tale, suspended between the worlds of fairy tale and real life. The artists once again reach for traditional songs and use their own particular blend of sensitivity and imagination to talk about the world surrounding them from a female perspective. They talk about events that are multi-dimensional, like thistles – since thistles are at the same time beautiful and practical herbs with healing properties, as well as prickly weeds.

Polish trio SUTARI was created by three singers, instrumentalists and performers: Basia Songin, Kasia Kapela and Zosia Zembrzuska - continuing the traditions of Polish folk singers. Their work set a new direction in thinking about traditional music in Poland. They experiment with various vocal techniques, polyphony, traditional Polish rhythms, and explore the musical potential of everyday objects used as instruments. They arrange traditional Polish songs as well as compose their own, based on various female musical traditions.
